Galaxy Plumbing & Heating publishes clear service rates for plumbing, drain cleaning, heating and air-conditioning work in Vancouver. Regular plumbing labour is $210 for the first hour and $125 for each additional hour. An emergency call out fee is $275.

Drain Camera and Hydro Jetting Fees

A drain camera inspection can help identify root intrusion, pipe damage, offsets, breaks, standing water and other hidden sewer-line issues. The hydro jetter fee covers the equipment; gas is not included.

For stubborn buildup or recurring blockages, hydro jetting in Vancouver uses high pressure water to clean the inside of drain and sewer lines.

Sanitary Sump Alarm Installation

The $560 sanitary sump alarm installation includes a Liberty Pumps ALM-2-1 alarm with a wide-angle float and 10-foot cord. The alarm is installed above the pump so occupants can be alerted if the pump fails.

The alarm requires local power. If suitable local power is unavailable, an electrician will be required to provide it, at the homeowner’s expense.

Sanitary Sump Maintenance

Sanitary sump maintenance is $650 per sump. The service includes:

Removing the sump lid
Inspecting pump operation
Pumping effluent from the bottom of the sump through the existing pump
Flushing and cleaning the sump with a hose
Checking for foreign material that could clog or damage the pump
Inspecting floats and other sump components

Shower Valve Replacement Prices

Both options include a Moen or Delta shower valve and trim, labour, disposal and connection to the existing piping.

Rear-Access Shower Valve Replacement

The $1,400 rear access replacement is used when the valve can be reached from the wall behind the shower. It includes cutting an approximately 12-by-12-inch drywall opening and installing an access panel.

Drywall repair is not included. If a building water shutdown or riser shutdown is required, additional costs may apply. This does not normally apply to single-family homes.

Front Access Shower Valve Replacement

The $1,575 front access replacement is used where the valve must be reached through the shower wall. Tile is cut to accommodate a chrome renovation plate, which covers the opening after the work is complete.

Tile restoration is not included. If you want the original tile finish restored rather than covered with a renovation plate, a tile setter will need to complete that work separately. Building water-shutdown or riser-shutdown requirements may add cost in strata or multi-unit buildings.

The published price applies to a standard replacement. Additional costs may apply if removal or installation involves unexpected access challenges, non-standard venting, code upgrades, damaged piping, other site conditions or additional repair work.
